...is amazing.

So, update...I'm leaving for China in 5 days; that's a little crazy to me. I was selected to be an International Ambassador for Western Oregon U. in a new program, so I get to flit about China with a group and tell people about WOU. Did I mention it's free?...yes, yes it's free. I'm SO incredibly excited, but I'm also pretty damn nervous...I've never been farther from home than Kentucky [and while that's more or less another country compared to the Northwest, I still don't think it counts as real experience traveling :).] I'll probably be posting pictures of the MILLIONS that I will take, so never fear! And I'll be keeping a journal so I don't forget any of the amazing things I get to do :)
Other than that, I'm starting finals week; nothing more needs to be said about that than BARF...yes, that sums it up nicely.
Oh, finally, my boyfriend proposed!! He did an amazing job proposing, and I definitely cried like a little bitch...but I'm supposed to because I'm the girl. We'll be getting married July 18th of 2010, and I'm already freaking out...but again, it's okay because I'm supposed to. I did get my favorite color as one of the "theme colors" so that was rad. It'll be a dark-ish purple/white/silver/some black accents wedding, and I'm pretty excited about the possibilities; one advantage of being artistically inclined is that I can do whatever the hell I want with pretty much any colors and make it look damn good :)
Really, the rest of my life is consumed with packing and making sure that I'm out and ready to go by Friday, because Saturday is one of my best friend's wedding (which I'm in) and then I'm leaving Sunday morning from Monmouth at 3:00am...so I'll probably not sleep that night, some how stay awake on the 4 1/2 hour flight, and then take a tranquilizer (provided by the school's Health and Counseling Center) and pass the eff out on the 14-15 hour flight. I thought it was a good idea :D
I'll most likely be writing a trip update when I get back.
Peace

Birthday...8 days later

  • Reading: Latin final exam
  • Watching: Mythbusters
  • Playing: Soul Calibur IV

So last Monday, the 2nd, was my 21st birthday. Who has a 21st birthday on a Monday, honestly? Lame sauce. All in all, it was fun. Went to Applebee's with 23 people...which is eleven more than I thought would show up, so the people there were a little distraught; I guess the rule of halves doesn't apply to delicious appetizers and yummy drinks :D After said feast, I went and bought my first ever alcohol, went to the boy's house, and played guitar hero, watched mythbusters, and drank. Not a lot, because I had to go to Latin class the next morning at nine...le sigh.
It doesn't seem like it's been 21 years...crazy...

Whew!

  • Watching: 10 Things I Hate About You
  • Eating: breakfast at J's

Finals week...damn. I have no idea where the term went. I only have two left; one at ten today, and then Latin at 8 on Friday...I don't even have that class on Fridays, so I have no idea why it's on a Friday, other than the University hates me. Meh.
Not much is new. I'm still crazy and taking two languages next term, but I decided to take it a little easy in the English dept. and finish my lower division classes...which I should have already taken BEFORE the senior seminar classes, but I have wiles and ways around trivial things like protocol :)
Erm, that's more or less it. I'm SUPER stoked for a break, and ready to do some relaxing things that have no scholastic benefit whatsoever
Good luck to those of you who have finals remaining, and poo on you to those who don't :)

Yeah, I went and saw them live in Corvallis, and because somehow I manage to know all the right people, this chick got backstage, all access passes. Yeah, you're jealous. I got to meet them and hang out before the concert, and I also got tons of pictures of them by wholeheartedly abusing my privileges and elbowing people out of the way, brandishing my name tag. It was AWESOME. I also got to go take pictures beyond the pit, and in the press area, so that was also SWEET. There were three other bands there (Blue Ember and Break As We Fall, who are both from OSU, and a band from NY called Cloud 9, and I kind of liked them. They aren't my usual style, but I liked them as a whole), and I got to chill w/ them too. Ugh, it was pretty much the best night of my life to date. It was SO sweet.

Anyway, I'm back at school, working two part time jobs, and going to school full-time. I'm taking Latin, which is actually really cool. I'm also taking Eng 447, which is a seminar on Dante Aligheri. So far it's really fun, but I'm not excited for the final paper...or any of the papers, for that matter. Um, what else? ASL IV is kicking my ass, but I just need to practice more. Intermediate life drawing is bomb. The first day, we could all definitely tell that we had not done any drawing since last year, so it was a fun day :)

So, what's new in my life?
-I'm living in Independence for the summer, which is meh. My roommates are hilarious, so that's cool, but they need to learn how to shut the door during business time in the bathroom. It's disconcerting in the morning because my room is directly across from the bathroom.
-I took two summer classes: Math 111, which was balls, and English 447, which was AWESOME. Let explain why: my course reading materials were all of the Chronicles of Narnia books, and all of the Harry Potter books. Yes, that's right. It's was a special interests, senior/graduate level course on CHRONICLES OF NARIA AND HARRY POTTER. It was so cool. However, the 36+ pages of essays that I had to write was slightly less cool (the last essay, but not final exam, was 20 pages...THAT part of the class was balls, but the rest was cool).
-I'm working in the financial aid office at WOU doing pretty much whatever the counselors tell me, which is mostly filing and organizing. It's not a bad job, though; the people there are mega cool, and I get to listen to my iPod, so all around, it's a fairly enjoyable thing.
-Next year, I'm working for ASWOU as the Gender and Sexual Diversity Advocate, which is going to be amazing. I run the QRC at WOU, put on programs, and attend OSERA (Oregon Student Equal Rights Association) board meetings.
All in all, my life is rad right now. But I am hella bored in Independence...because it sucks.

OH!!! And, I'm a Twilighter, and I was at the midnight release for Breaking Dawn, and, of course, I dressed up. I rationalized it because we brought a couple 13 year olds (my best bud's sister and pal), and they wanted to dress up, so we did as well to make them feel better...but I was going to dress up anyway :D It was so fun, and the book is AMAZING. I read it twice that weekend, and then passed it off. I think that's all :)
